storm

There was a pretty intense storm that rolled in the area on Friday. Some of us went outside at work to see the weather change. The wind was really intense. For as much as I am terrified of lightning I do love the beauty of the weather.

owls

I really like these owls canvases from Pier One. They could look cute above my bed. All three of them in a row. But then that brings red into my room and I'm not sure about that decision.

beautiful clouds

I wanted to take some photos of the beautiful clouds this evening, but when I took my camera outside, it totally fogged up. I'm bummed. I do love my clouds. They are so fleeting and ever changing. I enjoy capturing them in a photos.

opinions, please

So, I'd really like to get a new duvet cover. I just need a change. The one I have now is really cute with photographed butterflies flying on it. It's very white, with just a few butterflies. My room is lime green, it's not super bright. I've been checking out different websites and Target and Macy's seem to have the best selections. Which do you like better? Let me know.

So I entered stuff in the fair this year, like usual. I just signed up for photography. My only problem is that I haven't taken many pics this year. I have bit of work ahead of me. I hope to go back to the cemetery and take some more for that series. I'm weird, I know.

back

I was off last Monday, so my mom and I had a picnic at the Lack County Fairgrounds. We ate sandwiches, sat in the sun and just relaxed a bit.

I have been feeling overwhelmed at work, just like everyone else. I have so much to do, in such little time. It's frustrating b/c I could be doing some really creative things if I wasn't so stressed out. I need to look back to last Monday.

It was a bad day today. I cried within the first hour I was there. All of the work I had "worked ahead" on had been trashed. I had to start over. More stress. Last Monday, please.

I redid the work, but feel lost on my mental timeline. More stress. Last Monday, not this Monday.

lovely photos

i found this artist's work today. it's really beautiful. while looking through her stuff i realize why i like it so much. i actually own a few of her books. i would absolutely love to own one of her prints. they look gorgeous when printed large, but unfortunately if i ever did buy one of her photos i'd only be able to by the $25 one. the owl is speaking to me, as well, as the baby lamb and fawn. so cute.

uninspired

lately i've been feeling uninspired to actually be creative (outside of work). i was going to do illustration friday this week, but i really have no idea what to do. may i just need to start doodling again. i've kind of lost sight of that. and it makes me sad.

treats

Today we celebrated my tenth anniversary at work. 'becca came to eat lunch with me. she surprised me with a bunch of yummy pink frosted cupcakes with the cutest little faces. she knows me too well. i love treats with pink frosting and sprinkles. and food with smiley faces is just adorable. she even crocheted me this cute little cupcake. i also got an awesome camera keychain. she really made my day amazing! thanks 'becca! :)

monday, oh wait tuesday

it was so difficult to get back to work today. that one extra day of freedom really threw me off. i didn't get back into the groove until after lunch!

remember this post from last year when i had a little froggie friend, buddy, who sat on our exterior light (by the front door)? well he's back again for another year of eating all of the bugs he can. i've discovered that he lives behind one of our shutters. i was going to paint those -- maybe not.

It was a great holiday weekend, very busy, but nice. Today we went to the annual Memorial Day service at the cemetery where my grandparents are buried, then my mom and I had a mini-cookout.

this morning i was told to "f*** off" and this afternoon I shot things.

i was yelled at b/c i told a man driving a truck that was going the wrong way in the parking lot, he almost hit my mom and i. then after the severe storms this afternoon the sun was casting a brilliant light, so i grabbed my camera in a fleeting moment and got some floral photos.

this morning i got to drive by a large white tailed deer (it was a doe). so beautiful. then today i got a wonderful surprise package of cookies from one of my closest friends. i shared most of them with other friends, but what a wonderful monday surprise!

rain

this rainy, cold weather is getting really annoying. i haven't have time to take some much needed spring photos. it seems like once there's actually a nice day, i'm either at work or the blooms on the trees/plants have already faded. i really need to make some floral portraits for my own well-being!

scavangers of the sea -- no wait, land...

the other day when i was driving by a freshly plowed field i noticed that it was full of seagulls. it's not like i've never seen that before, but it just didn't seem right. there should have been a murder of crows or some other species of birds taking the opportunity to eat the worms that were freshly brought to surface. i know that as a child there weren't any gulls in the parking lots of local stores and restaurants either. but now were inundated. gulls have adapted -- plain and simple. they were originally meant to find their meals in the water, but have since migrated away from large bodies of water. and in order to survive (i still don't understand how they can truly live here in the winter) they have become opportunists. they scavange for garbage, but have also adapted to eating worms. most of these birds probably haven't even tasted the fresh fish that their ancestors consumed for so long. it was a juxtaposition to see "sea birds" thriving as most inland birds do, but i guess they must do whatever to survive in any circumstance.

maybe that could be my thesis if i were ever get to study zoology, but i was also interested in the role of animals in the bible...
